Define exactly which chrysanthemums you need
The common name is not enough for a commercial enquiry. Ask the proposed supplier to confirm botanical identity, variety, colour and whether the requested product is a cut flower rather than plants or propagation material. These are different buying requirements.
Describe the flower form and bouquet purpose. Request specification photographs or a sample process from the actual supplier instead of assuming an image from an unrelated catalogue represents the crop available for your order.
Verify the supplier’s product-specific capability
Ask which growers or packing operations would fulfil the order and whether the specified product is available in the required quantity and date window. A company exporting roses does not automatically offer chrysanthemums.
Check the supplier’s company identity, traceability approach and the relevance of any certifications to the actual operation. If a supplier cannot confirm the crop or documentation requirements, do not treat a general statement about Kenyan flower exports as sufficient evidence.
- Confirmed botanical identity, variety and flower form
- Current availability and an agreed quantity
- Stem length, packed counts and quality tolerances
- Grower or packing-lot traceability and responsible contact

Check destination rules before a purchase commitment
Plant-health controls depend on the destination and the exact material being imported. Ask the receiving authority or clearing agent to confirm the applicable requirements, and share those with the Kenyan supplier before procurement.
KEPHIS handles Kenya’s export plant-health certification. Do not assume a rose consignment’s documentation or eligibility automatically applies to chrysanthemums. Any required certificate wording or additional declarations should be verified for the actual order.
Agree packing and receiving criteria with the actual supplier
Request the bunch count, box content, protective packing and handling instructions specific to the flowers offered. Discuss bloom protection, stem condition and acceptable damage tolerances. Avoid assigning a temperature or promised vase life without product-specific evidence.
At arrival, reconcile labels and quantities against the packing list and inspect the flowers before distribution. Agree claims procedures in writing with the company that sold the goods; policies from another exporter do not govern that transaction.
What can buyers enquire about at Zavora instead?
Zavora’s listed range covers single head roses, spray roses, carnations, summer flowers and foliage. If those products match your buying brief, the team can assess a sourcing and export enquiry. None should be presented as an automatic botanical substitute for chrysanthemums.
For an unlisted product, ask whether it can be investigated before making a commercial commitment. The existence of this guide does not establish sourcing capability, stock, price, certification or destination approval for chrysanthemums.
For listed flowers, review Zavora’s sourcing, packing and export services and build an enquiry around confirmed catalogue items.
